    Applied Finance w/ Commerce-Professional Accounting - Picking units/subjects + Majors

Re: Applied Finance w/ Commerce-Professional Accounting - Picking units/subjects + Ma Yeah, thats right. You'll have to make sure you meet the prerequisites for it though.

    MQ Chatter Thread

For those subjects, you have to do ACCG100 in Semester 1 and ACCG101 in Semester 2. As for the others, you can do them in whatever semester you want. Generally you would take a look at what semester the subjects are offered, and whether it has any prerequisites, in order to decide which semester...

    Cheap Textbooks

I've mainly used http://www.bookdepository.co.uk although that might be a bit redundant since that booko one is a price comparison website.

I'm not sure if I'm looking at something different than you are, but my greyed out ones are subjects I've already completed.

    Majors and Minors:

This makes sense to me, but I don't do a degree that has majors (well, the major is actually the degree name itself) so I'm not 100% sure how it works. (I think the above poster is confused, so I wouldn't take his word for it either)

CURRENT ACTUARIAL STUDENTS!!...Tell me about the course

Why are you tossing up between two irrelevant fields of study? You either enjoy/want to study Science/Med or Commerce/Statistics. Seems to me you only want to pick the most 'prestigious' degree, which will most likely end up in you picking the wrong one for you. (Honestly, though, you are by no...

2 HD's and 1 D for me, pretty happy with that! Although I was expecting the D (Corporations Law) to be my highest >_>

    ACCG353 Sem2 2011

I think you'd find that most people that post around these parts are 1st/2nd year students. After they graduate (i.e. after doing 300lvl subjects) people tend to not hang around here as much...

Have to pass exam to pass the unit.

Thats been the case for most of my exams, just suck it up and be done with it. And try to think of it from their point of view, y'know, they're trying to maintain the quality of their graduates. How would you like it if you were on trial for murder and found out your lawyer failed their final...

Mathematical content in the Bachelor of Applied Finance

Not sure if it was obvious, but ACST306(/AFIN306?) is really only for the actuarial students, so they can satisfy the requirements for the finance degree while still learning actuarial stuff. So definitely steer clear of that one, I know I am. And just to go back on what we were saying before -...

    Busl301

Well, while this is being bumped, I wouldn't mind hearing some pasts students experiences with the final. The sample exam posted on blackboard is pretty much just the same as tute questions...

Mathematical content in the Bachelor of Applied Finance

It's good to hear that you weren't too troubled by ACST101 - that really is the foundation of all financial maths with equating cash flows, present values, future values, etc. And yeah after comparing recommended programs between the double degree or the double major, I can see the difference...

Mathematical content in the Bachelor of Applied Finance

Aaand on to the topic at hand: I might have a pretty warped sense of what is 'easy' and 'hard' maths so my opinion may be a little more biased towards the 'its not that hard' argument. As for second year subjects, you'll have ACCG252 which when I did it (the first semester it was offered)...

What does the prerequisite for this unit mean?

It says "or", so doesn't that mean you need either one or the other, not necessarily both?

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

Re: Holy Fuckaroni LOL, well yeah when you lose only 1 mark in your HSC for Ext 1 and 2 I doubt you'd have found either test hard. I can't recall how I felt about my Ext 1 and 2 papers that year but I quite easily got 90+ for both (although nowhere near your marks, heh) all I remember is that...

    Macquarie University 'Merit Scholars Program'

Yeah, I know that, but I was just saying that in order to receive the $12 000, you have to get over 98.5 as well as apply/be chosen for it. Not everyone that gets over 98.5 will get the money, but they will all be a part of the 'Merit Scholar Program'.
