yep.. i found chem contexts II really useful, in-depth and actually relevant to the new syllabus. Conq chem was alright as a summary, i thought (or a quick reference point)

but if the water is originally alkaline, and one change in pH means a ten-fold increase in [H+] as it increases exponentially, then it doesn't seem all that realistic that alkaline conditions could change into acidic by the action of cute & tiny little bacteria..... or am i being too practical ...

How do sulfate reducing bacteria cause acidic conditions around shipwrecks? Sea water is naturally alkaline.... how would it change to acidic ??? thnks!

About the Ruse paper... i was going through it and the under question 24 answers where it says 'The destruction of the Earth's radiation shield, the ozone layer, exposes the Earth's surface to dangerous levels of ozone which can cause cell damage etc....' , well, shouldn't it be UV radiation...
