Brickies earn up to $6000 a week? WTF are we doing at uni?

Feels like only yesterday when the media was focussed on other tradies (plumbers and electricians) on 100-200k. Admittedly the industry requires one to get qualified and reputable before they can consistently take home the premium but it's been done. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    UT99 (classic/original) vs UT2004 ... and my netbook 2.0.

I ended up buying UT 1999 from GOG (and then when I booted up my Macbook Air 11" I realised I had already installed UT99 GOTY edition as I have the original CDs back home at my parents' house in Australia). I really enjoyed playing Tactical Ops back when it was just a mod. So much fun playing...

Post a picture of your ride

Don't worry give it time. Eventually you get old enough and earn enough to not really care what others say/think. That being said I always liked to make my parents feel involved in my decisions to buy a new car so they don't tell me off for wasting my money. ps. I'd pick GT-R just whilst I'm...

By the time I'm able to buy and back in Sydney the market would've changed and new cars may have come out. Right now though I like comparing the new C63S and a second hand Gallardo or R8. Both are just a dream at the moment :)

lol thanks, I'll wait until I buy a car.

Is getting an MX 5 a good idea for first car.

I think you need to find more interesting places to drive perhaps rather than just suburban streets of traffic congested places. You're driving an open top lightweight two seater. Everything from being able to drive roof down (I miss this!) to just enjoying slightly more twisty roads. Ps. Also...

    Career advice

I'd also be mindful that the challenge of the role will greatly depend on the performance and style of your branch manager. With my limited experience in branchland, the role will officially be full time but the amount of effort outside of business hours may be more than anticipated as surprises...

How bad is it to delay compulsory subjects?

As others have mentioned if you don't like maths, don't do eco - it'll get more and more painful. Commerce would be a much better choice as you can do qualitative subjects (even in Finance).

    WRX on P's?

I still remember driving the SL55 - that's would've been quite the handful for a newbie especially in the wet. And that addictive sound. I'm glad there are rules to protect not just the P players but also the other users of the road.

Not sure why it would feel good but at least you can drive. I used to love visiting maccas for car meets in my younger days. But sigh no car now and too old for meets.

    Questions about tablets

There's a promotion on at the moment for uni students to get Office 365 for free > http://community.boredofstudies.org/123/technology/334988/microsoft-office-365-subscription-free-teachers-students.html

    Questions about tablets

Fair enough. You planning to get a bluetooth keyboard/stand? I find that's where the productivity use of a tablet with Office really shines. Don't forget uni students can get Office 365 for free.

Show us your Thinkpads, sorry no MacBooks

I consider myself a business user and I think to this day, I've carried around batteries more than I've ever swapped them due to needing a swap. If anything it was just a pain to think I might need it, keep carrying the spare battery, only to realise they were dead anyway. Had to replace them a...

    Super Smash Bros

I just bought Smash Bros on Wii U but haven't launched it yet. Is there much benefit to syncing my 3DS copy to it if I haven't played much on 3DS? I find it quite awkward to play on the handheld form- yes it's fun, but the controls just feel a bit funny now to me. Maybe I just need more experience.

    Discounts on Macbook Air

Rumour has it on the 9th March they'll announce a 12 inch macbook Air in the middle. I personally find the 11" to be perfect but if the 12" is same dimensions (i.e. reduced bezel) then I'd probably go for that if I was in your position.

Show us your Thinkpads, sorry no MacBooks

Here's my desk at work with my think pad, think vision and usb keyboard. My Lenovo mouse however is rubbish so I don't use it.

Show us your Thinkpads, sorry no MacBooks

The buttonless trackpad isn't that bad - I actually like the fact it's decently sized (my fiance has the x240) and a bit nicer to touch. For me the key thing with a thinkpad is the red nub. If you're really worried about the keyboard layout, then just buy the Lenovo USB keyboard? I have one of...

Show us your Thinkpads, sorry no MacBooks

I don't keep photos handy of my thinkpads over the years nor do I keep them. T43, T61, T420 x2, X230, X1, T430 Agreed they're business machines (other than the X1). Built tough. Not looking forward to x240 though as I'll need to get new chargers again just like when Lenovo changed them after...
