UTS or Macquarie University - Which one would you choose and why for Business?

Well one thing to keep in mind then is what kind of career path do you want to go down, what are the expected post grad qualifications (e.g. Chartered Accountant for accounting), and then see whether or not the degree you are choosing is eligible as a prerequisite to enrol. In this case, UTS B...

    should i do commerce/law or actuarial/economics @ unsw?

I'd say just do straight B Comm with the majors you want but do really well (i.e. HD average) and maintain both work experience (doesn't have to be too relevant) and extra curriculars. That'll make you stand out and you can land an offer. A Comm/Law grad with shit marks isn't going to wow anyone.

UTS or Macquarie University - Which one would you choose and why for Business?

Whilst I have heard the Macquarie course content is better in Accounting, for purposes of like and like, I don't think a Bachelor of Business Administration from Macquarie is the same as the Bachelor of Business at UTS. Bachelor of Business Administration sounds more like an entrepreneurship...

Im no expert, but I have an idea for taxes

So what you're saying is the government will have discretionary spend set up in the budget, and ask voters to pick from there? Might work but I suspect the cost of administering and auditing such a system would probably outweigh any savings/benefits, and somehow I doubt it would lead to a...

Im no expert, but I have an idea for taxes

Bingo. Again I reiterate my previous point of government expenditure is often on things no individuals would actually want to pay for but society (including those individuals) would collectively benefit from. Selective expenditure to focus spending on certain areas is a policy choice, but...

Would it be a bad idea to use BOS notes as study notes?

Agreed re: English in particular. It's really hard to try to use someone else's point of view and clearly articulate it because it wasn't your own. It's definitely easier to come up with your own stuff particularly when you need to remember it for an exam.

Im no expert, but I have an idea for taxes

I think the key thing you guys need to remember is that the reason why the government has to pay for these things which are aimed at improving Australia as a whole (apparently) is because no individuals would want to bear that cost themselves- therefore isn't it natural and obvious that is why...

Which dual commerce degree should I do?

Better off using the extra time/energy on things which will actually improve your employability (e.g. life experiences, work experience, extra curriculars, etc) as opposed to giving you a second degree you don't really care for which is close to meaningless especially if you don't do well in it.

Im no expert, but I have an idea for taxes

Was worth a shot. I think once you start paying taxes and then seeing how it gets used your views on tax will change. Just keep in mind that there are lots of taxes out there- some are more obvious than others based on where they impact and who ultimately pays them.

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

Sorry can't help much as I'm not from Melb. Dont know if there are many cadets here from there but with an ATAR of 98, I doubt you would struggle to get into the Business/Commerce/Accounting degree of your choice.

What do you actually get out of the business dean's scholarship? IMO I would take BAcc over mid-tier firm cadetship for both the name/prestige and the value of the different placements/internships... unless you really want to work at GT.
