Are you sure? I'm above average in physics and I'm pretty bad at it, and I barely study and spend class talking and cutting my split ends. So I can't imagine what the people ranked below me are doing with their time, and how strong our grad can be.

Haha yeah, last year were excellent at english but quite terrible at everything else, especially maths and sciences which we're meant to be good at... Oh and we did well at eco as well, but mainly because of all the accelerated kids in my grade.

I think you could quite comfortably get 99+ But more exact than that is too hard to determine, but maybe up to 99.5 on the hope that our grade is nowhere as bad as last years...

Its so that everyone can get better atars and feel better about themselves. If you're in the top 50% of your yr12 cohort, instead of getting an atar of 50 compared to everyone who sits the hsc you get around 70.

If you want to get a good atar, convince all the lazy/partying/aspiring musician people at the bottom of the grade to study for 6 weeks of their entire high school life and get a deccent mark in the hsc. (At least high band 5) Then everyone, including you, willl get better internal marks and...

Yeah, a mark of 100/105 actually seems right.... After all you're aiming to be in the top 64 of the entire state. The best students would be getting close to full marks in all the sections.

Maybe. But set weightings are pretty ambiguous anyway. Like a task will have 2 sections, in total they are worth 25%, but they weight the sections differently and record marks separately. We're only told the really general weightings, so the rest could be up to the discrepancy of the head teachers.
