    Integration Question

I am pretty sure those square brackets should not exist. Without them the question makes perfect sense and is of an appropriate level of difficulty for MC. As the OP has written the question, the question does not make sense. There is no reason why the domain of f has to include anything...

It was the "HSC Exam Mark". I probably got about 117/120 raw. It was an easy year so state ranking ties would've been broken by assessment marks and 3U marks.

    HSC 2012 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon Let f(x)=x*arcsin(x). As the product of two odd functions f is even, so it suffices to prove the assertion for 0<=x<1. f is the product of two positive and increasing functions on the interval 0<=x<=1. Hence 0=f(0)<=f(x) < f(1)=pi/2 for all -1 < x < 1.

HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

Re: MX2 Integration Marathon Perhaps, but then again I am not asking for an explicit recurrence formula :). You should be able to integrate many integrals of this form without recursive methods.

HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

Re: MX2 Integration Marathon Here is a question of a different flavour, but easier than most in this thread so far: $Outline a general procedure for integrating $\sin^n(x)\cos^m(x)$, where m and n are non-negative integers. Hint: You may need to split your procedure into cases according to...

Re: MX2 Integration Marathon Use the auxillary angle method to write the denominator as Rcos(x+alpha). Sec should be a function you know how to integrate.

Re: MX2 Integration Marathon U MAD BRO keep your integrals at the level of the MX2 integration topic. If you are interested in how to do these yourself, do outside research / ask in extracurricular. This thread is an inappropriate place to post them. @Rolpsy nice question...

I assume the question means: how many ways can you organise a single mixed doubles match from that pool of 12 players such that no married couple are both playing. (If instead we are organising 3 concurrent matches with the same condition then the problem is harder.) Choose the two men in the...

    Anyone use caffeine pills before?

I took dexamphetamines once and have never felt so "switched on" in my life, but would definitely recommend against making something like that a habit. Get good sleep and eat healthy, with a bit of caffeine now and then to give you a kick.

So then there is no distinction between you and someone who worked as hard as you until the last three weeks of semester and harder than you in the last three weeks of semester? It is easy enough to get a degree these days, you shouldn't expect charity for the sake of boosting your GPA.
