Big 4 Accounting Firms Internships 2008

LOL at people who already are discounting a Big4 firm... seriously though, they're all good firms and they all recruit top students. Without actually working there, I have no idea how you guys can come to such a conclusion.

Big 4 Accounting Firms Internships 2008

Wow nice folder. They finally switched from the thin portfolio style to a compendium one which is infinitely more useful.

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

Unlikely to go on secondment during traineeship because; a) you lack qualifications to make it worthwhile for the other office b) you also will lack flexibility in your timing because of uni commitments However, you may be required to travel interstate or overseas for a particular...

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

From memory, the peeps I knew in PCS tax were specialised in particular clients and kindof.. did everything for them. Whilst this was tax-related, it included helping them figure out issues and so on. Alot of the time clients ask stuff which we don't know the answer to, so the challenge is...

Big 4 Accounting Firms Internships 2008

I feel old but I'm not him o_O? Credit average isn't so bad as long as you have other features which make you attractive to employers. Academics are really not the one and only thing which employers look at.

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

I guess... but it'd be rather weak. Is this in relation to a cadetship or a vaccy spot because whilst the two both are for positions without a degree, the strength of a vaccy app is gauged very differently to that of a trainee.

One is delivered to street and other is a PO box? I'd send to PO box.

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

*shrugs* It's not a "formal ceremony" or anything! More like, after UAI results and uni offers are made, the firms will probably call or email you to find out if you are going to be studying a degree which will enable you to complete a cadetship and be eligible for the relevant post-graduate...

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

You may get a letter/package/email confirming start date at some point in time but to be honest, not much happens until you get your uni offers and can confirm you are able to meet the requirements of the cadetship.

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

Possibly. Or a very exclusive private banking hedge fund. Interesting to note, PwC sold it's financial planning arm to AMP. I think the topic was more to do with accounting function in a bank but I could've misinterpretted. Neither were you IIRC?

ROFL that is very true mate. Btw long time no see since that day back at UTS eh? There's a lot of client interaction across most professional services jobs- after all, you are essentially being outsourced some function (whether it be by law or because they need your help/advice) and thus it...

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

Depends what role you want to have in finance, and what roles you have been offered in both the institutions. Westpac is a leading retail bank in Australia, and if you are in the institutional banking equivalent position, it'll be very beneficial for your career. However from what I've heard...

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

AFAIK there was no camp for us in our year but I suspect that it wouldn't be viable to have a camp anyway considering the number of cadets who we started with. That being said, I heard that KPMG have a massive induction ceremony interstate for both grads and undergrads. To the poster who...

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

I heard 1k per subject for textbooks- can't remember but someone explained to me about this before. Not sure if you get to keep the unused amount though. At the end of the day though, I'm sure that the salaries between the Big4 aren't too different and anything like study grants/allowances...
