    Internship

Sorry, there's no internship program like that within the Political Economy department at Usyd. That's the situation for most departments, really, unless it's a built-in component for degrees such as Media and Communications. I completed Political Economy units for three years, you'll have to...

    which language

No problem :) I studied Japanese for one year during high school but it was when i was 14 and we didn't have a great focus on grammar. I suppose that was the biggest shock during the first week, especially for German, but they were helpful and did ask in the first lesson if anyone needed help...

    US Studies

If you were to do a BIGS, then you'd have to complete the core components of International Studies and two majors. For one of the majors, it has to be off this list: The International and Global Studies core major must be chosen from: (a)Anthropology (b)American Studies (c)Arab World, Islam...

    which language

I've done both German and Chinese at beginner levels. German: It really depends on whether the tutor wants to speak in the language or not. In GRMN1111 the tutor spoke in German 95% of the time. Even when someone asked what something meant, she wouldn't explain it in English - she'd use body...

    semester 1 results

They won't be coming out for a while. Well, it depends on the faculty too, but yes scaling and admin takes up a lot of time. This is my third year of uni now and from experience, they always come out two weeks after the last official day of exams (June 24 this year). Last year, for Semester 1, i...

Marks needed for Juris Doctor at UNSW/USYD?

I recently emailed USYD about the JD. They said for CSP supported places, you'd need a UAI/ATAR of 96+ and a high credit average. For full-fee domestic, it's 91+ and high cred average.

    fucking timetables

Um, yeah you can actually can choose your tutorial times. Contrary to what they WRITE on the website, every year i've gone into Carslaw or whatever it was to modify my timetable and asked them to "put me in this tutorial". And they've always done it.

    Timetables & MATH1901 & MATH1903

Yes, you are. If you have any lecture streams for a particular subject, you don't have to go to the one that is allocated to you on your timetable. Eg in my first year, i was allocated this stream: Tues 5pm Wed 5pm But i later found out there was another stream going at 3pm on the Wed, so...

    Failing a unit?

^ as stated above plus they will still also have to pay for all the liable HECS fees for the unit.

    semester 2 timetables

From looking at the date published on my Sem 2 timetable last year, it was June 15, 2009! So fingers crossed it'll be out very soon!

Haha it's okay, nope, i'm doing a normal B. Economic and Social Sciences. Yep, that just means that those people enrolled in BA Advanced can enrol immediately into Gender Studies without having the prerequisites (the 18 junior credit points). On the Gender Studies website it says "You may start...

No problem =) Well i only did 1 unit, Intimacy, Love & Friendship. It sounded straightforward and easy, but i quickly realised it was quite more complex than the unit name suggests! When i did it, the readings weren't very thick but at times, difficult to understand as they were a bit...

Hey, haha yeah a lot of people think it's a 2nd year course, but you only need 18 credit points (from any units, in absolutely any faculty!) to do Gender Studies units! So i had to wait until my second semester to do it. The 6 credit points do count, i did it as an elective! I think i might've...

    i dont understand this

from usyd site: The 'Part A' bit refers to the units of study that are listed in the Faculty of Arts Handbook, Table of Units of Study: Part A. All Part A units come from subject areas taught within the Faculty of Arts. You MUST have at least one Arts Part A major to complete your Arts degree...

    textbooks

Look at the status. if it says text, it's "compulsory", if it says recommended it's not. However don't buy your textbooks before uni starts unless you are 100% sure it is needed. Sometimes, the Co Op list says a book is a 'TEXT' however your lecturer may end up telling you it's not actually...
