I think you can just do whatever you want with your degree. Second year transferees have to take a designated set of law subjects which have nothing to do with any other degrees. I transferred into law in my second year and didn't take any law-related subjects for my first degree. You'll be okay...
Although the requirements for ATAR/GPA change every year, you'll realistically need to be looking at a GPA of around 6.2ish (which is about a mid-Distinction average) to have a good chance of securing yourself a spot in Combined Law. Anything lower than that and it would be really hard to say...
@Reyus: Congratulations on your offer! Can I just ask where you found the grade requirements? Are they just for external transfer or both internal and external? Thanks.
Thanks, diligent! Only two more weeks to wait. It's great to hear that I'll be able to finish my Combined Law degree (if I make it in) at the same time as those who started in their first year, I was a bit concerned about being disadvantaged in terms of having to complete the course behind...
Your ATAR looks very strong and if you have a legitimate reason when applying for EAS points such as illness etc then you will most likely get in. I know somebody who had an ATAR of 98.50 but still managed to secure a place at USYD Law through the EAS scheme because he had some sort of illness...
Oh really? Do you mean first round as in the November Round or the Early January Round? I checked on the UAC website and apparently USYD doesn't give out any offers until the Early Jan Round at the earliest. I'll check in a couple of days, but I think it'll probably come out in the Main Round...
Hey guys, I really need your help. Basically the situation is, I have just finished my first year of undergraduate study at USYD and I would really like to transfer into a Combined Law degree.
I completed my HSC in 2010 and received an ATAR of 99.15 while also achieving an HD average (although...
I recommend the method that worked for me- Write practice essays, give them to your teacher/tutor to mark, take note of feedback, submit a refined essay (repeat this until you've been told that your essay's all set to go), memorise it, practise adapting it to all sorts of questions...
The most essential aspect of your thesis would be to include this notion: Composers of texts attempt to convince audiences of the veracity of their arguments and manipulate them into adopting their perspective of events, personalities and situations (syllabus terminology essential). This can be...
LOLOLOLOL...hahahaha...that's a good one!
Mum: Why is it 0.1 lower than the calculator prediction, looked a little disappointed
Dad: "Wow, that's excellent! I thought you would only get around 94 or 95!" (after he averaged the marks for all my subjects...*facepalm*...*sigh*)
Re: Disappointed with your results?
Well, I really wouldn't mind if the variation provided me with a higher ATAR, but 9/10 people here seem to have gotten a lower one.
Re: Disappointed with your results?
I just absolutely hate it how the ATAR I got was lower than what the calculator gave me, even if it's just by a little bit. The Matrix and Einstein calculators gave me 99.25 and 99.30, but I only ended up getting 99.15...I was so pissed off when I first saw...
Actual ATAR: 99.15
UMAX: 99.30
ATAR Calculator (Einstein): 99.25
Both were quite accurate. I'm just glad I didn't get a rude shock. But for some reason the calculators always seem to give you a higher estimate compared t whatyou actually get.
Yeah, that's what I thought as well, since it's the most plausible explanation apart from mere coincidence. But I guess you'll have to ask the guy to confirm it though...cos that's pretty freaky (coming first in your school in both class assessments and HSC)
