    Calculating orbital velocity

Yeah, you need to derive it from scratch. This applies for escape velocity as well. It should be pretty straightforward anyway; takes literally 3 lines. For orbital velocity (you must have the first line as well): Fc = Fg mv²/r = GmM/r² v = sqrt (GM/r) For escape velocity (include first line)...

    Insulation In Motors

A current carrying conductor within a B field experiences a force (by the motor effect), which gives rise to the torque in a motor. When you have many of these conductors (like the many coils in a motor), each of these conductors experiences that force, adding up to give a much larger force and...

    Pendulum Questions

Can you show how you attempted these questions? Then I might be able to point you in the right direction/find where you went wrong in the working.

    Practical Assistance

The short answer is theoretically yes - this is pretty much a spring-mass system (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_harmonic_motion#Mass_on_a_spring) So technically (as seen on the Wikipedia page) your period should be T = 2π sqrt(m/k), and your frequency f = 1/(2π) sqrt(k/m) So the square of...

    excel graph :(

Sorry no one answered your question for so long. I only just started checking out BOS again after like a year away from it. Do you still need help with this? =D

    Equilibrium and Volume?

I like to think of pressure as kind of being how packed and crowded something is and how much people get pressed against the walls. So if you think of a room with 100 people. If we enlarged the room into something like a auditorium, would the room seem more packed or less packed? Would there...

Newtons law of universal gravitation question

Can someone explain how this can be right though, even though it matches the answer given? The first line is dimensionally incorrect, as you are equating a force with a mass. The question says that it wants the weight there to be 0.01 of the weight on the earth's surface. What I did was this...

    Space Practical

Do you mean a justification for the method used? If so can you tell us what you did in the practical? Thanks =D

    Preparing for Physics half yearly

There aren't many formulae at all LOL. They've pretty much stripped it down to the barest backbone as much as possible; any further and the subject would be English essay writing.

    Commonwealth Keycard Query

The thing about Netbank is, I'm not sure you're allowed to conduct transfers and stuff through it. I though that the only thing you can do with it is transfer into your streamline account (Smart Access or whatever), and from there so the transactions. Also, you can't pay using a Keycard. What...

Good tutoring colleges for English around the Hills area

Just out of interest, is it true Mr. Woodhouse (head teacher of maths at James Ruse) is the head of the maths department at Discovery?

    Is ETLC tutoring good?

They charge quite a lot. I can't remember how much exactly; you have to actually go in person for her to quote the prices. I think it was over $80 per lesson or something (can't remember, probably went up, but then again most tutoring colleges these days are around that price). The annoying...

    Peak Tutoring

I've heard Peak Science is not bad at all - I thought of joining them too. Heaps of people I know went to him, amazingly cheap rate of $20/hr, and most importantly I've heard he cares genuinely about his students (which you can tell by the price, and is more than you can say for most of the...

Help!!!...I FAILED MY MY FIRST ASSESSMENT TASK!!!!

If it's any consolation, I consistently got around 50% for my first 3 assessments, and 68% for the trial, but still ended up with 94 in 4U. However as everyone here has said, it depends on your school I guess - like my grade did quite well overall so we like all scaled up.

    relativity help!

First of all, you do not bump 2 seconds after posting. I dunno maybe you were just trying to get your post back to the top because someone had posted just after you and yours wasn't on the very top. And secondly, if you're asking for help, I highly doubt that incredibly rude/sarcastic attitude...
