My school doesnt let us use gfx calcs?

I'm a mathematics teacher, and I use the TI-nspire CAS calculator for my own purposes and I like it. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use it in the HSC examination itself, as it features a QWERTY keyboard. More information at: Calculators for use in the General Mathematics HSC...

    Anyone doing teaching?

Are you talking to me? I'm assuming you are. I did all the interviews and application for the Scholarship before sitting the HSC, so a lot of it is based on the interview I'm assuming. They just talk about the cliche why you want to do it and why you think you could do it, etc. They also...

    Anyone doing teaching?

I'm considering teaching at this stage. I was offered a teaching scholarship from the NSW Dept. of Education. If I do accept it, I'm looking at applying for Bachelor of Education (Secondary) / Bachelor of Science at USyd. I'm thinking Physics/Science and Mathematics as my major teaching areas.

    Calculating pH (needed for tomorrow)

    Sulfuric Acid is H2S04.... meaning there are 2 H+ ions. So the [H+] = 2 x (5 x 10^-4) = 1 x 10^-3 ph = - log (10^-3) ph = 3

Funny question we came across in class...

    I worked it out! Sadly enough.... 0 does not equal 1. let I=int. 1\xlnx let u=1\lnx and dV\dX=1\x du\dx=-(1\x)\(lnx)² v=lnx I=1+int. lnx(1\x(lnx)²) ----- this is the problem line =1+int. 1\xlnx=1+I I=1+I 0=1 The question had limits of between e and e^2. So that line...

Funny question we came across in class...

Hehe that's the problem. The original question had limits to substitute into the answer, so the problem being a constant wasn't considered.

Funny question we came across in class...

Maybe someone can help me work this out.... We had the following question: Find the integral of 1/xlnx Using the substitution u = lnx the question works out quite nicely. However, inadvertanely missing this, I tried to do this question using integration by parts, and recieved a...

    Brian Greene's "Elegant Universe"

I saw the documentary on SBS........... I'd looked into string theory before that though. I thought it was pretty good. I went to the bookshop to purchase Stephen Hawking's "The Universe in a Nutshell", and saw the "Elegant Universe" book, which I didn't realise they had and I might buy it later.
