combined law - finishing law first?

Genuine question; is law at macquarie any good? as in, is it prestigous? The reason why i ask is because I see law kids at big 4 accounting firms doing audit.. Obviously to me that doesn't seem like a first choice grab for a law student. What do you guys think?

How to succeed in a grad job!

Deloitte partner in audit would probably earn alot less than a respective partner at the other 3.. Deloitte's audit arm, atleast in australia, can't really compare.. the other 3 have monster clients. PwC's audit revenue is huge. That being said, if you look at audit as a transitional vehicle...

    How to become a stockbroker?

Yeah, stockbroking is essentially selling the idea that you have to complete a transaction with them. How do they come up with recommendations? Sometimes its through research analysts, sometimes they can be told what to do by other traders. The bigger and more frequent the transactions--> the...

    Do you trade shares?

Quick question; I was speaking to a relatively senior commodities analyst at a research house and he seemed to bad mouth fortescue the quality of the iron ore they produce however they have about a return on equity of about 50% but this is blindsided by the sheer leverage of the company. I...

How to succeed in a grad job!

working at one of the big4 now as a vaccie.. tbh I think many are charmed by the image they have associated with them. At the end of the day, they underpay and overcharge (thats from what I observe) and once the novelty of going into a nice building and visiting client wears off I think people...

    Do you trade shares?

Re: higher return than stockmarket? I've pretty much chucked out efficient market hypothesis...after doing a large segment of behavioral finance i'm convinced that its not always in play. Essentially the style i employ is that of value investing (warren buffett, einhorne etc). Its a question...

    Do you trade shares?

Re: higher return than stockmarket? Interesting. The only time I pay attention to economic factors is to determine the litmus for whats 'hot' and whats not. JBH ,imo, is a solid business, so if i stick to whats a good business itll be the best to weather any macro shocks. haha thats the plan...
