hahaha I mean the author did kill himself so that says something. Russian lit is so nihilistic I love it. School girls basically about this teenage girl trying to live life without being contained it's pretty depressing too
ikr, it's too sad tho, I'll have a look into it tho.. wdym contained?

Do you guys reckon I'll be able to beat the goal this year?
genuinely asking, how do y'all keep to plans and pledges in regards to reading? i often find them restrictive for me, cos i just enjoy reading spontaneously and to make a plan of what i want to read kinda ruins it esp since i find new books i want to keep reading and reading so it'll just pile up until i know i'm not gonna touch those books anymore 😭

go beat that goal tho 💪 reading is based

The worst thing is just a book that's been sitting half-read for maybe a few months or so. Ones that you enjoyed, would continue but got busy when it reached its climax. When that happens to me, idk whether to pick up where I left off or restart the book.

Honestly I never even knew about the site until my friend (who is also a reader!!!! literally the best thing in the world. we can talk and rec eachother different books) got me to sign up to be on there with her. We set a goal together of a book each week of the year, but because I was already nearly there by the end of term 2 we doubled mine.

Personally, I love reading and always have - so naturally I already am super inclined to. It is hard to stick to the goal, but by setting a reading goal you allow yourself to be flexible; AKA, tell yourself, 'I wanna try and read at least X times a week/30 min every night before bed to get to my goal'. And on the site, you can also add to your TBR which is great; you can keep track of what books you wanna read and it recommends more based on what you like.

I needed a good book to get me out of my slump; for me, it was 'The Housemaid' by Frieda McFadden, and that kickstarted me to read more. I think the important thing is to ensure that you actually are reading something you ENJOY. Otherwise, you won't stick to the goal and not read.

Fingers crossed I'll get there!! All I need is the universe to send me a book reading bf and I'm happy 🤣🤣

No, because this is literally me on every level. And sometimes you kinda of lose what the plot was or forget ab a character so you can't get stuck right into it again 😭

What are you currently reading?

lmao nothing atm. I don't have a good reading reading habit. Last one I read was the Big Short (book).

I've read like 5 books all year wow
Honestly I’d be in the same position as you except I literally deleted TikTok and deactivated instagram so I could study more efficiently (a wonderful (study)economy of scale🤩) so when I’m not out with my friends and have free time I just read now 😭 plus I read fast too so that always helps

the subtle art of not giving af was actually the first book I read this year (start of HSC) or any since probs like year 8 lol.
Pretty good at the start but damn man was just giving out relationship advice throughout the ends which was useless
