Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest. Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president has facing exhaustion.

I'm no Obama fan but he isn't G-d. Any President would be overwhelmed.

It doesn't help that the Americans have a crazy system where each new admin has to appoint like 3000 political nominees which usually doesn't get done until 3 or 4 months into a term. As a result there's shitloads of high level positions in US Government Departments that aren't filled and when they eventually get filled they have to be briefed etc.
