What technique would you guys use for this one:

" The party was trying to kill the sex instinct, or, if it could not be killed, then to distort it and dirty it"

You could use the plosive 'd' sound in 'distort' and 'dirty' (alliteration) --> sense of authority given to the party and emphasises the extent of the Party's intentions to control and suppress.

I would also say the metonym used for 'kill' (also 'distort' and 'dirty', but tbh I'd place more emphasis on kill), instead of just using 'erase' or 'eliminate'. It highlights that they want to obliterate it completely.

Try coupling it with hyperbole (hyperbolic usage of kill...) cause either alliteration or hyperbole on it's own is pretty weak.
