How about lecture notes and doing the weekly tutorial exercises? or should i also attempt the questions in the textbooks?

Summarise the lecture notes, make sure you understand all the concepts being talked about. If you can explain them to someone else, and they get it, you're on the right track. Even better (for most subjects) is if you can also apply it to examples or case studies.

That's all it comes down to: understanding the content. If you can do that, it doesn't matter how or what you do to get there.
