1. if you have a look at the 2003 paper http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2002exams/pdf_doc/business_studies_02.pdf
for questin 28 and question 29, they have da saem criteria and the first criteria is:

"use your knowledge and relevant business case study/studies"

and if you look at the marking guidlines http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2002exams/pdf_doc/bus_studies_er_02.pdf

for a band A answer, the last criteria is

"makes appropriate references to relevant case study/studies"

and if you look at 2001's marking criteria it says:

"clearly identifies and incorprates a global bbusiness throughout the response"

this does not mean that this year's paper will require you to identify case study/studies, but from past trends, it is a good idea to know one at least.

2. Generally speaking, Shareholder's equity and owner's equity are the saem thing. But to be more specific if the biz is:
a soletrader or a partnership = Owner's equity
apublic/private company = shareholder's equity

and Onwer's Equity = Assets - Liabilites.

This equation is derived from the balance sheet equation ie: Assets = Liabilites + Owner's Equity
