im doing the HSC at tafe which runs courses in one year rather than two but with less than 10 units worth of corses .. As im eligable for Limited UAI I am officially finishing the HSC this year, for math, english and chem and am getting a Limited UAI - so technically i have finished as of end oct exams (which acer said was ok).

However I dont know if the uni;s will accept lim uai for entry to med though, so i am going back to do Bio, Phys & Business next year (and finish my HSC again, lol, Next year) ..

Hmmm... Sorry to disappoint but I was told that for Adelaide Uni, the UMAT cut-off for first round interviews was mid 170s combined scaled score.

You MAY still be eligible for dentistry... don't know the cut-off for dent, sorry.

Pr0digy's right. It has fluctuated from 171-173 in the past three years. Dentistry is around 160 (in which case you just miss out).
However, second round interviews go out to all the 99.xx ers who applied - and the cutoffs are lowered a little. So if you pull of a 99.xx, dent interview may very well be a reality.

Do universities use the total marks or the percentiles to work out who gets interviews?

Monash uses your percentile total.

Melbourne weights the first section of your scores. And uses that total.
Everywhere else, your regular score totals are used.
