Do you often get called out of class to go read out some answers in a test you recently did?? (A kid always had to do this because teachers could not read his writing) If so, yeah might as well get one.

I know some people who did this for some HSC students a few years ago, write for them. So keep that in mind, the scribe might just be some kid a couple years below you and might not be a fast writer.

Not sure about anything further than that, sorry. Check with BOS maybe.
yup
i had to rewrite my half-yearly eng adv essay and was called out in eng ext

i didnt think scribes existed until, well, i got told LOL not too sure if i want one since i get into a rhtymn while writing but if it means my essay will get marked and not send someone into seizures then im all for one hahahaha

Legit reasons include:
CRIPPLING PAIN WHENEVER YOU WRITE (I have a medical condition where I'm eligible for a scribe but chose to write and take rest breaks)
and also other things

Non legit reasons include:
Messy hand writing :p

Your English teacher needs to chill :) Maybe take a photo of your hand writing and we can see if we can read it?

Also it's pretty hard to get provisions at this stage.
Post a pic of ur handwriting so we can conclude whether it is as shit as ur teacher claims it to be
how do u post pics here?

Perhaps she wants you to get one because of your hand writing?

Usually when the student's writing is illegible they allow the student to use a scribe

There are other exceptions such as writing under the national writing speed, broken hand (One of the 2014 BoSer's got a stress fracture in the lead up to the HSC but still got a 97 in Advanced English), etc.

I wouldn't recommend using one at this point in time because you will have little time to get used to using a scribe effectively in regards to communication, etc.
well i was told nicely that HSC markers, if they cant read handwritings they wont mark it.
so im all for it if it means at least itll be considered LOL obv i prefer writing it myself

can u elaborate? do u know anyone who had to get a scribe bc shit writing...? not too fussed about communication and learning how to use one, im a fast learner and adapter

:'( Are you telling me you've had to come to terms with your handwriting?

It's challenging to get provisions. I had to see a specialist + get a whole bunch of scans done. Note sure how they legitamise messy hand writing though :/

Mhhm I don't think that we have anyone at our school with a scribe for that particular reason (I know that it is a valid reason though) but they have all told me that they initially thought that it was easy to adapt to a scribe but said in reality its quite the opposite so don't be too confident about it

uh no, the opposite but optimist and all
like i said, considering it was a teacher who told me this its prolly worth looking into for me at least

oh im not
but optimist u know?
what reason is this valid reason? i f33l im missing something
thnx m8 tho

Yeah I've been told that many times.

My writing is also crap. It's not illegible (yeah I suppose some words you have to look hard to see what it is) but in exam pressures it's always going to be 'messy'. And I really think markers should take the time and effort to slow down and read it properly. They'll be able to read it, it just might be a bit harder and longer than neater students. I hate it when people tell me they'll just give me 0.

Like, I seriously think that my hand is just programmed, or maybe my brain, to write that way. No matter how hard I try, I write the way I write and can't change it. I just hope I don't piss off markers. I mean, I've made it this far without anyone telling me they can't read it.

EDIT: Also the kids that had a scribe (there was quite a few for some reason...) seemed perfectly fine. One even took over writing half way through lol.
lol i can relate to this
i just didnt think before well, now, that handwriting was such a be all or end all thing

Economics study is pissing me off lately, I can't retain anything for topic 4 (and it is the most important topic). I'm so sick and tired of the HSC :bomb: :newburn:

yea well...

the thing is, what i dont like about eng is that (for me, at least), no matter how much effort i invest the marks generally seem to be based on how the teacher feels on the day. i can work my fking ass off for my maths and science and other humanities and attain solid marks, whereas english is unpredictable lol. i swear my shit which was based on BS the night before that gets good marks whereas the shit i write 2-3 weeks in advance gets given feedback with a metaphorical "fk u". it also makes it worse when there's plagiarism which is rife in hsc english and despite one's complaint to the teachers, they can't do much, especially since the previous assessments in our school internals had the Q given out prior, meaning you could just regurgitate whatever piece of wankery you've come up with on the spot. tbh, i don't mind learning about the texts, they are interesting to me. i just reckon the marking can be more clear cut. i also question the merits of literature language being able to be applied to all contexts for future which imo is total bullshit (that's another debate tho)

lmao, this has turned into an anti-english rant
inb4 the english biased lovers appear and defend their case :p
