Any rumours / intel coming out of the marking centre ?. Only thing I’ve heard that since Bio was easy, short answers are being used as differentiators. ( was bio easy ?). am keen to hear about English tho.

bio was pretty easy, much easier than 2022 and imo all the qs were answerable/doable, so it would make sense that short answers would be used to differentiate what were higher band responses etc.

english will always be english, i have no rumours or hearsay to provide about the marking centre but imo if the qs were pretty broad and thus easier to answer there would be a higher focus on the expression/articulation of sophisticated ideas and the ability to answer every single aspect of the q and link back to every part of it to differentiate the top band from the lower ones (since even tho the qs were broad they did have different parts that u had to address within them)

Have heard that they’ve finished marking exams. Hope those English markers are earning their $41 per paper. So they need 4 weeks to tally it up ? Carrotss calculator is free and an atar can be provided in under 5 minutes. Bureaucracy, AI to sort this out.

More news from the marking centre. Apparently the last q in modern history wasn’t answered very well on the whole. Lots running out of time / rushing.

what's the last q? you mean section IV?
i mean it makes sense, plus some of the section IV topics had some very niche topics (cough cough china). time management seems to always be a problem with essay based/humanities subjects

I’d guess some markers have hsc kids so word probs gets around that way.
