i just keep gaslighting myself into thinking everything will come to me in the exam like it will literally be so easy and i will state rank english
It’s basically manifesting and positive thinking so you don’t bomb the exam bc of stress!! A+ strategy

what if i give up on memorising full essays and only memorise quotes, techniques, and general analysis , as well as the things i did wrong in my trials so i don’t do it again in the hsc. doesn’t sound that hard. surely it’ll be fine..… i did decent in trials with this sorta method and i did it the day before….
Thats what I'm doing! Im only really doing mini paragraphs on each bit of evidence i find and connect them to the rubric for prep. Im not usually one to use solely the memorisation route. Also because even if i did, there are 6 days left so it would be a bit silly to write a whole essay and have it approved by my teacher...but i will have SOMETHING prepared, at least to fall back on a little if all goes wrong!

My goal for english is genuinely just to FINISH the exam, Im a slower writer...because i tend to overthink every sentence, so what i need is to just trust myself. Thats the hardest part.

Ive learnt this all before, i know this...i know the topic...i just gotta not overthink it.

As long as i finish it ill be proud of myself!! Even if my marks are terrible, because that would be a huge achievement for me. If i finish all of my exams and get a below average atar i will at the very least have the confidence still to say that i achieved something really cool.

THIS IS THE WAY!! Id rather do terrible in an exam but being somewhat stable than doing terrible but stressed all the way through. Autogaslighting...
Oh my god your subjects make me wonder how you are surviving, sure I get that you like writing but almost all of them have essays?! if I did that I would've been 6 ft under already.

I really like essays...even if i don't do the best on them a lot of the time, i just love the process. Which is why exams are so tricky, it takes away all the linguistic care and careful construction of a piece of writing...granted, its really good practice for strategic thinking! But I'm neither strategic or practical...yet. Im getting there...

Its funny too because the writing style of every single one of my subjects is completely different from each other. Doing english ext 1 and then going to chemistry is whiplash.

ALSO WHOEVER made the hsc timetable is evil they put ext 1 and chem on the same day. Im sobbing.

YES! Even all the englishes differ!

Advanced to me is super structured, there's no room for experimentation or any kind of playfulness. Very ridgid, albeit a little bit of personal voice can absolutely shine through, its a bit more condensed. Pop in a conceptual statement here and there, that's about it.

Extension one is a lot more playful, your personal voice is HUGE in essay writing, though that doesn't mean you go into full blown discursive - just that you can let your own writing style worm in a lot more. You also tend to use a lot more evidence, ie connections to literary theory, so you need to have this "flowy" style which lets you talk about a lot of topics at the same time seamlessly.

And then extension 2 is INCREDIBLY FUN!! Experimentation all the way, while i didn't continue with Ext.2, when i wrote my essay i implemented features of fiction-writing into essay writing. I cant describe it in any way other than discursive but extra arty farty.

how the hell do people do this. i did a decent amount and still got like 15
its not difficult at all. You just need to link all of your points to a number, and CONTEXTUALISE THEM. The following case study I wrote in a practice paper and it was entirely fabricated:

probably not a great example but you get the jist.

Anyone can make up a number of profitability, staff turnover etc. but its the depth at which you contextualise that will make the marker think 'this guy knows what he's talking about'.

Thank you for the very nice intro and for module C I would recommend writing a narrative based upon an idea that is timeless, it has to have a key idea that is pronounced through each part of the text. For example, for my narrative I wrote upon the loss of a loved one and how its significance affectws the flow and nature of life creating a journey for the character who tries to uncover the meaning of mortality an living and how they interconnect to each other.
Interesting...mine isn't too different because its about a guy who through music, reminisces his past experiences of a relationship and how their breakup affected his psyche, and then finding solace and a moment of clarity from the natural world

Ohh super cool!! thats certainly a good one to recall for the exam, absolutely COATED in human experience…the markers will like that!

When i did my trial mod c i wrote about a woman who ABSOLUTELY DISPISED PHOTOGRAPHS because it was tangible proof of the past she count stand to see. It was very fun! For me at least. Not for the lady, she was having an unpleasant time to say the least….

For mod c i reckon ill take the story i wrote for the portfolio and adapt it…its quite a flexible one, ill just adjust the metaphors and writing style to fit the prompt is.
