I've had a sub for the past 2 periods too. Why are all our teachers awayhere's to wondering if the substitute will let us use our headphones.
omg. That;s so real like u never know what someone is going through in their personal life and telling them that they did shit isn't gonna help us improve. Like they should be constructive about the criticism. I'm actually so mad about yesterday cause like yelling at us about why our responses were shit is just outright mean and like if u want us to feel motivated and to do better then u need to at least be a bit nicer and constructive about it. Like I was literally gonna cry during that lesson cause I've never had a teacher that has been so mad over a frickin practice response. Like be patient. I had DT due on that exact day and a business topic test the period before. like gurl. It has just demotivated me even more cause now I felel more shitty about myselfGuys honest opinion (rant upcoming)=
how do we feel about teachers who publicly express their disappointment in marks to the class like we're their children?
Like- why should my mark reflect how you see me and how i should act- it isn't your problem if people a) get poor marks because you spring random quizzes on us and not tell them what they're about - or, b) they don't worry about their marks because they don't want it to let them feel down.
E.g- one of my teachers gave back a couple quizzes and we were all crashing out over the marks because she's marking us down and not telling us what for- and she's going "Girls you shouldn't be laughing" like my bad gang that Our marks reflect YOUR teaching skills?
And another teacher gave back some responses saying she was utterly 'disappointed' because she gave us 'time' to study for it like we don't have other subjects to deal with- saying our examples were 'pitiful'.
I actually don't like when teachers do this as i don't believe marks should reflect the student- I understand they want us to succeed but there is also a need to consider mental health, other subjects, and home life for students.
On the contrary- one of my fav teachers gave back quizzes we all did poorly on- said we should go back and work on it- went through it- then moved on in life allowing us to not dwell on it but instead move forward to improve instead of feel disappointed in ourselves because we have a teacher saying she's disappointed in us.
IKR! And then they don't even help you to improve after- like your job is to teach, not just give us information about context and then get mad when you haven't even taught us how to properly analyse. We're going off what you're teaching us and you cannot assume we know everything because we don't. That's why we're at school.omg. i don't think they care about anything but marks atp- and when pressure is applied- not everyone turns into diamonds. Some crack under pressure. And I hate it when teachers use these stupid scare tactics to motivate us. Like do u really think it's gonna motivate us. Like it's actually counterintuitive cause then ur students are gonna feel more stressed, defeated and they'll end up doing much worse. I actually can't stand it anymore. And it's just creating more unnecessary pressure that I don't need. Like I already know my writing is shit and I don't need my actual teacher to tell me it's shit too. Like stop projecting ur anger issues on us plz
ikr. I want my old English teacher back. He actually analysed it with us. This teacher expects us to do everything ourselves, then blames us for not analysing properly and beats us up for it. Like I don't care about the frickin context. I can do that myself just properly analyse it with us. And the part when she doesn't help us improve is so real. Like I need a tutor now to help me do thisIKR! And then they don't even help you to improve after- like your job is to teach, not just give us information about context and then get mad when you haven't even taught us how to properly analyse. so real. Like they just want better marks so that they look better, the school looks better and they get a pay rise. I crack under pressure which is why I did so bad. last term cause of all that stress. Like do u not care about our mental health. Like I actually hate teachers who don't care about our mental health. And then when she goes on about oh this test will determine whether u should drop to standard or not? Like that scared the shit out of me and even last year about the top 50 shit, triggered my English anxiety so muchi don't think they care about anything but marks atp- and when pressure is applied- not everyone turns into diamonds. Some crack under pressure.
and with English it's even worse. Like we don't have a textbook or smth with all the analysis we need like in other subjects where we have textbooks with all the info we need for the exam. SO like how are we supposed to find analysis for ourselves. lIke it's even worse for eng. Imagine if our bio teacher just gave us some very broad info and expected us to use our common sense to figure out the rest of the shit. And at least with math there's a certain process that u just have to follow to solve a problem but English like it's so much harder to know exactly how the markers want us to to answer the questionI don't know why they've pushed this so much.
I also find it so funny that they're forcing a bunch of teenagers to analyse and learn something that ADULT GENIUSES discovered and created. If the teachers and adults struggle to do what we do- they why do you expect that we won't?
Like before u criticise us for doing bad why don't u do a reflection and think maybe the reason why we all did bad was because of u. Like can't u find fault in urself first before blaming it on others. Like don't take it out on us when it's ur fault. Like I think the teachers need to do like a reflection day like us students doIKR! And then they don't even help you to improve after- like your job is to teach, not just give us information about context and then get mad when you haven't even taught us how to properly analyse. We're going off what you're teaching us and you cannot assume we know everything because we don't. That's why we're at school.
One of my 'icks' are when people cannot take responsibility for their actions- and when they cannot realise the damage they may be inflicting. Unfortunately, most (not all) teachers cannot recognise where to draw the line.Like before u criticise us for doing bad why don't u do a reflection and think maybe the reason why we all did bad was because of u. so real. Like please put urself in our shoes. Like how would u feel if what u said got told to u. Like think about it for a bit.One of my 'icks' are when people cannot take responsibility for their actions- and when they cannot realise the damage they may be inflicting. Unfortunately, most (not all) teachers cannot recognise where to draw the line.
like especially at a christian school. You should be promoting kindness, mercy and all that shit that they preach. But with all the emphasis they put on this stuff, the teachers still don't like out these values and it pisses me off. Like try to be a mercy teacher pleaseOne of my 'icks' are when people cannot take responsibility for their actions- and when they cannot realise the damage they may be inflicting. so real. Like if that;s so disrespectful for people who are Christian. Like keep ur personal religious opinions to urself. Like that's so rude. Like it's ok if u don't believe it but criticising people for their beliefs without an apology is so wrong.. To u it may be a fake story cause u don't know Jesus but to many others like me it is an integral part of my life stop projecting ur personal beliefs into ur job. Like keep that seperateFor example, i go to a religious school right- and when we said a religious comment (which was on topic btw as we were talking about representation and many types of religion were brought up) to my english teacher she called it a fake made-up story that isn't real. Like ok your beliefs are your beliefs and that's totally fine- but keep them to yourself, especially when you're in a strict religious school. She didn't apologise or realise she probably shouldn't have said that- instead she sat with a smile on her face like she's just won the lottery.
And when they get mad at you and yell because you're trying to improve but instead they just get annoyed by your presence and questions. Like that is not ok and you're doing more damage than anything.
