what if i were to, perchance, take (for year 11)

Eng Adv
Math Adv
Math Ext 1
SOR 1
Modern History
Economics
Japanese Continuers

and then (for year 12)

Eng Adv
Math Adv
Math Ext 1
SOR 1
Modern History
Japanese Continuers
Japanese Extension

for context I really hate science but i do decent in it... also none of the uni courses i want to so far have it as a prereq so i decided not to go with it. im in the top math class for my year but i get average marks for the course, im pretty good at history and my school is kind of a HSIE sweat-- also i get full marks in Japanese. i took commerce as an elective asw so may be useful for economics. BUT FOR ENGLISH RIGHT- i got recommended ext for yr 11 and im getting pretty average marks so like idk if my school is just weird like that or smth.

lmk your thoughts gang xx

do NOTT do english ext1, it takes sm time, its subjective and compared to maths, it doesnt scale as well either but your other subjects look good

It’s ok. Lots of people who get 95+ atars don’t do sciences. Just do the subjects u enjoy and think you’ll do the best in

oh also theres like a 2 week period next term where we do our year 11 subjects and then we can switch so lets see. I personally dont see myself doing great in science and my school has only 1 band 6er in physics and 1 in chem per year (compared to like 15-16 in history which is also where my strengths lie) but yea maybe ill eventually end up doing a science who knows.

But if ur school gets more band 6’s in history and that’s what ur good at then maybe u should stick with it. Like u don’t have to feel obligated to pics a science

those look like really good subjects!! i did practically the same as you just instead of the humanities i did sciences, lol
just a heads up though, japanese continuers does really go by a LOT quicker in senior years and you'll be getting vocabulary (for my school we have to memorise ~100 words perweek) and new sentence structures constantly thrown at you.
japanese won't overwhelm you or be as time consuming as your other subjects as long as you stay consistent. like tbh u dont have to do more than an hour most days, just as long as its not too spread out

and about the sciences, they can scale well but they are so incredibly time consuming and demanding and they're only worth doing if you have a genuine interest in them and are most definitely not needed for a good atar. (ive seen just as many people get amazing atars with majority humanities than those with majority sciences)

good luck for year 11!! :embarassment:
