Can anyone give any insight into what 2nd year maths is like.... maybe courses such as MATH2111, MATH2901, MATH2601 and MATH2931.

I've done MATH2019 which was pretty easy probably because of the lecturer and MATH2089 which is a pain and a half.

These higher courses are all a fair bit harder and more abstract than 1st year. You'll find out whether you are cut out for harder maths or not! On the upside they give out lots of HDs and DNs if you are good enough.

If you want to try 3rd year higher courses then you should do these are there is a big jump again when you get there.

Apparently you need it for Finite Mathematics.

The stuff on graphs, counting, number theory, etc isn't needed very much (but it would be very useful for 2400 or 3411). What is useful is the abstract stuff on sets, functions, proofs.

Not sure. They keep changing the system, so all you can do is try...they don't grill you at the door or anything.

This (especially for more pure maths subjects like MATH2111 and MATH2601).

The higher level of maths you go, the greater the emphasis is on rigour in proofs and arguments. Discrete maths serves as a good foundation for this.
