ok, say the highest was 100, and the next 95 etc.. when they align them, how do they do it? because 100 can't go any higher

100 stays at 100. The other band cut-offs would vary.

so 100 stays at 100.. and the person who came 2nd and got 95 may be scaled up to 99?

front row, centre, baby!
that must suck for the person who worked so hard to get 100! i reckon someone could get say 98% or sumthin. it all depends i spose. what do u think a raw 80 sumthin would be scaled to?

It's possible - it depends on the band 5/6 cut-off. If the raw cut-off is below 90, all marks between it and 100 would be pushed up; if above, all marks between it and 100 would be pulled down.

Yeah. The marks are usually in like a big wave, with a small number at the top end (being brilliant) and a small # at the other end (being not so brilliant), and most people are in the middle--they work the bands like this.

On the BoAred.O.S site, they have band distribution from previous years, in 2001 only 0.14% WERE IN BAND 6! 0.14!!! (40% band 3!).....for history, it's like 10% band 6

Ishnt dat veird?

yeah but if u look at 2002 its 7% and increased significantly. Comparing many subjects from 2001, it seems the % of ppl getting bands 6 was smaller then 2002... lets hope it follows trend and even more ppl get band 6's this year!!
