1. express (p-q-r).(p+q+r) as the difference of two squres

2. factorise k(x^2+n^2) - nx(1+k^2)

3. show that x = 1 - b/a is a solution to the equation
a(a+b) - b(a-b)x = (a - b)^2

4. solve simultaneously 2^(x+y) = 4
2^(x-y) = 8

and how hard are these questions relative to HSC questions?

1. p2-(q+r)^2

2. kx^2+kn^2-k^2nx-nx=kx(x-kn)-n(x-kn)=(kx-n)(x-kn)

3. cbb, u just sub it in...

4. ln2 4=x+y
2=x+y
ln2 8=x-y
3=x-y

subtracting equations 2y=-1 y=-1/2 x=2.5

these questions aren't too hard. but then again, the HSC exam isn't too hard either.

Oh my god i had trouble doing Q1. What is wrong with me?!
How about a clue? Q1 can be rearranged to look like this: (p-(q+r))(p+q+r)

PS- Don't look at Tim's answer :p
