8000 Word Limit! (1 Viewer)

Hey Guys,

Anyone have any idea of how leniant the BOS will be on the 8000 word limit for our short stories?

I know for assessments the general rule is 10% over or under - I somehow doubt that the BOS will let us go 800 words over though.

My story is currently roughly 8600 words - after editing it down from 9100, and I'm not too sure how much more I should try to edit out..

Pretty sure that you have to stick to the word limit. The leniency is in the 2000 word range (i.e. 6000 - 8000 word count).

8000 is absolute maximum. Not "approximately", not "oh but if I go 10% over", just stick to the limit like it says.

eh thats not bad at all...I have to squeeze 9 months worth of heavy reading and research into 2500 words for ext history....my first draft came out at 7200 :mad1:

50-60 words here or there won't be noticed. 600 will DEFINITELY be noticed.

I think its worth mentioning that about 350-400 words of my major work consist of the headings.

Nonetheless, I will be spending these next few days ruthlessly editing!

I was a bit stressed about the word limit. I know in drama if you go over the time by a certain amount (in performance) they literally stop you. I'd say they read the whole piece but might not take stuff into account if its way over.
