i was told that if you are doing esl, you are able to apply for 'access scheme' which can add up your UAI. Can some please clarify and tell me more about that.

Yes you can. You can apply for disadvantage for language.
I think you need a letter from the IEC (Intensive English Centre) and other documents form your ESL teacher.

i didn't apply it last year. I don't know the full details. but there is a EAS booklet from your career advisor. the EAS disadvantage can "add" up to 5 UAI points to allow you to get into a particular course if your original UAI is not sufficent'y high enough.

Lastly I want to emphasise is that only apply for language difficult might not be good enough to be approved by universities. people usually apply for two or more, like financial difficuties...

i spill the secret, i got 10 uai points towards my course in uni, its not only up to 5, if you lucky enough it can be up to 10.
P.S i did esl too

you got your uai in 90s well i didnt, not even 80s so i think its fair system. Survivor are you going to be a doctor as you finish uni?
