its confusing in the textbk, on pg 100 in the table duration is worked out by adding all the (weight x time) values right?

but in ega4.2 on pg 103, they find it by: (timexPV) divided by (pv of cash flows) without doing the weighted stuff like the pg100 table

???

thanks :)

Both methods are right.. its the same anyway but i suggest u go with the one on page 103.. its easier to understand.

The on in page 100 they discount back the coupon and divide it with bond price.. and then times the time.. and then add them up..

the one in page 103 , they discount back the coupon.. times with the time.. add them up n then divide with bond price..

so both of them are the same just differnt sequence of calculation...
hope it helps

I remember CAPM constituted about 20% of the final exam I did. I vaguely remember a theory question on EMH too. Apart from that, I don't remember anything else and nothing specific unfortunately. I did it 3 years ago.

Its better to use the table and just add up across and then downwards.

her!!!!! :D

i love you tajid, for some reason i never understood it until you simply just repeated whats in the book, i did the question in the exam with so much confidence lol

the exam was a bit iffy, few suprises like the last question on call and put minimum values, but i think it was ok

the project evaluation question was not the best!

No worries hopeful although Duration calculation wasnt in the exam :(

Yeh overall i thought the exam was easier than wat I expected.. some very predictable questions were there.. but yeah the project evaluation is a bit tricky. and some tricky multiple choice questions..

Good luck for ur results..

thanks hun, you too!

but there was a duration calculation, the one where you had to work it out for bond A and its current price, then comment on which of the other bonds would have a the longest duration

Luke! about 3 very similar questions from your mid-sems were in the exam so was super-happy to see them, thanks for the 100th time :)
