Next year I want to start a bachelor of actuarial studies with math and am therefore required to do discrete math (math1081) in first year. But I don't know how this will work out. In sem 1 I plan to do: math1151, econ1101, acct1501 and fins1613. In sem2: math1251, econ1102, acct1511 and actl1101. Seeing as there is no space to do math1081 (without overloading) how do people in math/actuarial go about this?

Edit: Not to mention mgmt1001..

I think you get to do it in the second year and you get to choose what ever courses you like to study within the 4 years each sememster as long as you satisfy the pre req

Okay thanks! Would anyone recommend leaving mgmt1001 till 2nd year? I'd rather do FINS1613 instead of MGMT1001 first sem. The rest of the subjects I kinda have to do as an actuarial student i.e. i have to do acct 1st and 2nd sem, econ 1st and 2nd sem, math 1st and 2nd sem and in the second sem I should do actl1001. Which leaves space for just one more subject in the year: FINS1613, MGMT1001 or MATH1081. Kind of a shit go, I really wanted to do discrete math first year as well FINS1613.

Do FINS1613 in SEM1 and delay MGMT1001 to your 4th year as it is a notoriously bad course. Do your MATH1081 in 2nd or 3rd year, depending on what you want to major in, as different majors may require slightly different courses for 2nd year (although most of them are the same) and that the 2nd year MATH courses will take up a lot of space so it might be hard to fit MATH1081 into your timetable.
