i did some prior research on actuary/law course.
alot of people drop out of actuary in the first - second year from boredom and a general overall lack of interest. i think it was macquarie that told me approx. 50? or was it 75?% of the students that entered actuary in the first year don't make it to the end either from stress, bad marks or the course just becomes too tedious.
I have a friend who scored 99.3 and had thought about actuary/law...that was until he looked a bit deeper into the course. I also considered it because i did quite well in 4u and 3u maths.
Actuary can be said as the 'best job in the world' - but in actual fact, not alot of people get to work as actuaries. A small percentage of the graduates are offered jobs as actuaries and from some relatives who have completed the course, their advice was if you don't kill the course, you'll get a job, but not as an actuary because the market for actuary is flooded.
Hope that helps.
