*sigh* science + maths does not = physics

It might be boring, but learn it. Make notes, try to pay attention. A bit of the Moving About topic is based off ... logic. It's very obvious, but you'll have to know the concepts and explain them. In a sense, it's like geometry where you have a set of rules to learn and you apply these rules to different problems.

Pay lots of attention in the Cosmic Engine topic.

Ok, you know what? I suck at physics, so there's not much advice I can give you for it.

but i am pretty good at maths and science. placing first in both subjects in yr 10..

1. First in Year 10? The SC means nothing.
2. How can you know you don't like Physics if you haven't even started the course already? Year 10 Physics e.g. circuits, light bulbs is different to Year 11 and Year 12.
3. What should you expect? It is a difficult course, which is why the scaling is :uhhuh:.
4. The important techniques in preliminary is CORRECT units and building upon your HSC glossary of key words. Memorise your formulas, know how to apply them (this is the biggest regret I have made in Year 11, and it is the reason why I came 2nd in the first HSC assessment than 1st, because I memorised the formulas like a typical maths exam but didn't know how to apply them) and theory and you'll be fine.

Prelim. Physics means nothing. I did no study for the final prelim. exam and got 30% (9/18 - it was supposedly a hard exam). Currently, I'm ranked 2 (in the first HSC assessment, still means nothing also :D).

Good luck.

Exams are usually multiple choice then short answer questions. You don't get extended responses in Physics although 5-7 mark questions are usually a page but you don't write them in the essay format.

How to Revise for Exams:
LEARN THE FREAKING DOT POINTS. DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO, JUST LEARN THEM.

Into pictures? Make notes in picture form/mind maps/diagrams/flow charts/shove in smiley faces just because they're happy and googly eyed

Hate tables? Make notes in list form!

Hate notes in list form? Make them in chunk form!

Hate note making? Don't make notes at all! Memorise and regurgitate textbook!!!

Hate writing? Record important things and listen to them!

Hate listening? Eat practice papers

Hate practice papers? Look at practicals

Hate practicals? Learn to find them sexy

For the more serious ones: make flash cards, write important points on post its and stick everywhere, bounce a ball and wherever it lands read that post it, hold a ruler and swish around while studying, draw a special thing on each page of notes/significant point, make mnemonics, make a rhyme, turn them into lyrics and sing them

Pick one.

How to Maximise Cramming Time:

Spray perfume/deodorant on anything you're reading

Light a scented candle

Keep caffeine/adrenaline levels up

Drink orange juice

Eat apples

Memorise mnemonics

Don't cram 5-10 minutes before a test. Cram 15-20 minutes before hand, memory retention is better

Finish the Dot Point book

Listen to classical music when sleeping
