What is the cheapest/best gym membership?

Also, if you have any tips for a newcomer to the gym, please post below :).

Go to snap fitness or anytime fitness, they're both 24/7 and have access key for you to do it anytime anywhere, and they're both cheap compared to deals offered by other non-24/7 ones like fitness first. I was about to join fitness first but realised it was $17 a week, while snapfitness was around $40-$50 a month, do the math!

Make sure you take at least 10 different supplements, overdose on pre workout, and cycle a lot. No, not the spin your legs on a bike cycle.

Those type of equipment are pretty expensive to purchase. The person probably doesn't even know how much he could lift with good form. Obviously the person's size matters, but in general it would be good to purchase:

20kg dumb bell x 2
22.5kg dumb bell x 2
25kg dumb bell x 2
27.5kg dumb bell x 2
30kg dumb bell x 2
Proper adjustable gym seats.

There's no need to get a barbell yet.

What routines do you guys have?
For a novice lifter/begineer I would recommend starting strength or 5x5 (personally i preferred SS)

For intermediate lifters a 4/5 day split would be fine. I was running:

Legs
Bis/Chest
Back/Abs
Tris/Shoulder

shoulders/triceps

legs/abs
back/biceps

4days a week, usually an hour each sesh.

I prefer 3-4 sets of around 8-12 reps with the maximum weight I can handle, for efficient hypertrophy. Obviously, that needs a lot of vegies, protein, water and a protein shake I have post-workout.

What sets/reps do you guys prefer?

I think Macquarie Uni Sports and Aquatic is great value. $33.75/Fortnight (for student-concessions) for access to the gym, pool, and all manner of courts too.
