did you do food or water, or both?

basically get an agar plate, and place a few drops of water (creekwater, distilled water, etc) or slightly rub food samples (nut, bread, apple) on the jelly. Put a lid on, tape it up so that nothing else gets in. Incubate it. Then after a few days examine the microbes that grew on it - size, colour, number, etc.
We split it into bacteria and fungi which can be easily distiguished.

Oohh. thank god for this thread. Just got this assessment today!! :D

Basically, we get to choose either food OR water.
I'm choosing water---i have no idea why.. We were given two agar plates and don't have to use one of them as a control. The control plate is in our lab. So i was thinking of using pond water from school ( D: ) and then either bottled water/tap water or boiled water. But i reckon that the boiled water works better as a control.. D:

Help and suggests? :)
