Hi, I'm wondering if any smart historians out there can help me with this question

"Write a brief report that analyses how ancient and modern sources gives various perspectives on Agrippina the younger in relation to her relationships."

I have a few quotes from tacitus and suetonius but I'd like a little more quotes from modern and ancient historians. It's due at the end of this week - teacher didn't give much notice.

Positive things they say:

- You can use coinage- there is a series of three coins that depicts her as coregent, slightly behind, then on the reverse side... then she disappears completely.


Negative things they say:

" everyone longed for the mother's domination to end."- Tacitus.
"This always terrible and now insincere woman" - Tacitus.
"Seneca and Burrus had no love for a petticoat government."- Scullard.
"Agrippina had long decided on murder"- Tacitus.
"his suspicions of her grew deeper.." - tacitus. (Talking about Narcissus' suspicions of Agrippina)
"it is not difficult to credit the belief that he (Claudius) was poisoned by Agrippina.)
"Excessively ambitious, Agrippina played the more dominant role. "- Barrett.

Basically, you have to say that tacitus portrays Agrippina in a negative light:
a- because she was an influential woman, and was not a traditional Roman matron, and
b- he wanted to attack the julio Claudian family because he was writing in the time of Domitian, whose reign was similar to that of the JC's.

Suetonius was a biographer, and his texts are not always entirely accurate, in fact there is some embellishment and hyperbole.

The modern sources rely on the ancient for a lot of their information, so they are not unbiased either.

Cassisu Dio also has a bit to say about Agrippina, but I can't find my quotes from him- look it up on the net.
