I want to get into the business and commerce course at UWS...but I'm not too sure I'll get enough UAI. What are some alternative ways to get into the course?

p.s please be specific.

If you live in western sydney you recieve a 5 point UAI reduction. Also another 5 points of if you do Buisness studies and get band 5 or 6, etc at school. Last year's cut-off for Blacktown was 60.10. Making the cut-off around 50.10 if you reside in greater western sydney and do Buisness studies and get band 5 or 6.

If you uai is going to below 55/50 their are a number of pathways, namely uws college and unitrack. You will need to speak specifically to the university about your requirements, etc: http://future.uws.edu.au/pathways-to-uws

Yes you can get there just buy doing the UWS college, as it is has been purposly built as an alternative entry scheme for UWS. However you will need to contact the university about the requirements, etc.

No, you will need to undertake a formal qualification before you get your CA, College = Pathway to> Uni> qualification.

Tafe allows you to gain certificates, etc for work skills or which maybe credited towards university study.

You will need to contact UWS about this.

Doing TAFE first isn't such a bad idea - you'd be surprised how many subjects you get credited for the uni degree.

Eg - i did the Human Resource Management/Industrial Relations major in my busienss degree and i knew a lot of people who came from TAFE together and they all seemed to get a minimum of a semester's worth of units credited.


Just make sure you enquire as to whether that tafe/that course transfers to UWS - i think i remember hearing that Ultimo tafe courses for example may not allow credit to a UWS degree.

Luckily this year the bonus points scheme does apply if your UAI is below sixty. So this means that even if someone’s UAI is 58 or even 53 they are still eligible for the regional bonus scheme or the subject bonus scheme. Just remember that one person can have a maximum of 10 bonus points all together.
