Hey!

So, I failed my trials pretty bad. My school assessments results aren't the best either.

Would I still be able to get a decent ATAR (over 80?) after HSC? I think that a Band 6 for every subject is impossible for me now, but would I be able to get anywhere close to an 80 if I achieved at least Band 5 for all?

Thanks!

Trial Marks

English ADV:

Mark: 65/100
Cumulative Rank: 44/44

Mathematics ADV:
Mark: 22/100 (how?????????)
Cumulative Rank: 39/42

Cumulative Rank: 36/41

Visual Arts:

Cumulative Rank: Idk
Task Rank: 6/18

Since these are your trial marks, what range were your other internal marks in? Those trial marks aren't great unfortunately but I think if the other internals are good then you might be able to achieve an 80 ATAR (given that you do very well in your HSC exams). Looking at your ranks tho I'm assuming your other internal marks are in the same range.

Thanks for answering!

I'm bummed that I did so poorly haha. My internal marks aren't as bad but they're definitely not constant across all subjects. I would say average they're around mid 70's-ish?

Art and religion would be in the A-range, and the rest are in the B-C range. Unfortunately, I started slacking towards end/mid-year.

Oh ok in that case it's not as bad as I thought. I would advise you to study as hard as possible and do your best in your upcoming HSC exams. I feel this is the only way you can get your desired ATAR. :)

Best of luck!

Yeah, I think it's because I started to drop whilst my peers improved. There really isn't much I can do now except for studying.

Thanks again for answering :)

What rank does your school usually get? Even people towards the bottom of their cohorts do reasonably well at higher ranking schools. https: //www.sydneyboyshigh.com/publications/document-library/doc_view/7845-atar-breakdown-2001-2019

It's been getting worse every year. Definitely not in the top 100 :///

Just study hard for externals and you should be fine. Make sure you understand and can apply ALL concepts to every subject. Sacrifice your time and happiness just for the next 20 days. You got this

I mean externals make up 50% of your overall HSC marks, and they are within your control.

So you can make a significant difference to your overall HSC mark.

I was wondering whether you would be able to give me an estimate or a prediction where my ATAR is heading. I really want an ATAR of 80.
My school is ranked like 89th in the state as well.
Subjects:-
Business Studies:- 60/100 Rank:- 64/114
Economics:- 72/100 Rank:- 9/17
Legal Studies:- 65/100 Rank:- 78/88
Maths Standard 2:- 63/100 Rank:- 82/146
Standard English:- 61/100 Rank:- 61/124

I am above average in all my subjects except Legal Studies.
Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.
