A man bought a chicken with the price of 8 dollars and sold it with 9 dollars.
later he was not satisfied with the profit and then spent 10 dollars to purchase that chicken back and sold it again with 11 dollars.

How much total profit/loss he has made ?

2 bux profit, any other solutions?

DO NOT read below if u plan on confusing urself wif the above question

u can rephrase the question, i.e. a man bought a chicken at $8 nd sold it for $9, then he bought another one for $10 and sold it for $11, wat's his profit magin?

starting profit = 0

x - 8 = -8
-8 + 9 = 1
1 - 10 = -9
-9 + 11 = 2
x = 2

meh, we're probably wrong :p

why is this thread here?

the wording is a bit off..

like "bought a chicken with the price of 8 dollars "
and "sold it again with 11 dollars. "

He bought the chicken for $8
He sold it for $9
He made $1 from it

He then bought the chicken back at a price of $10
When he sold it for $9 and originally bought it for $8.
He lost $2

He then sold it for $11
After buying it back at $10
And originally buying it at $8...

Yes?

Let me try this:

Gwen has 100 dollars.

Gwen bought a chicken, 8 bucks. Therefore now she has a chicken and 92 bucks.

Gwen sold the chicken for for 9 dollars. Therefore she now has 101 bucks. (92 + 9)

Gwen bought another chicken, for 10 bucks. Therefore she now has a chicken, and 91 bucks.

Gwen sold the chicken, for 11 bucks. Therefore she now has 102 bucks (91 + 11).

Looking back, Gwen realises she has 2 more dollars than when she started.

hrmmmmmm... at least this is less confusing than the higher computing assignment to make a sentence that describes itself :p

I think this question involves the concept of both economics and maths
