Is it allowed? For me it's a lot easier to answer a 6 mark short answer with 6 dot points than a long paragraph. I would think it is fine for something like Science but what about English?

It is allowed, though I wouldn't use dot points in an English short response. In English, I think it's necessary to use full sentences. It's fine for Science, and encouraged in History and Geography.

it's most probably allowed in science. it's definitely not allowed in english. never seen it done in geo/hist but our teacher would definitely not tell us to do it. i wouldn't be doing it in any case.

Depends on the question. If it asks you for a point, and then a description then its fine..
E.g What are the two types of animals? Explain these terms.

But once you get to longer answers, I'd stick to sentences.
E.g. Explain the primary causes of WWII and how they relate to Germany?

For english, it wouldn't be acceptable, since you have to write in a report format with sentences. However, for Science, Geography and History, it would be acceptable because it is a means of getting your information clear and concisely (since you don't have much room to write on the lines).

I frequently do that in Science, Geography and History for the 5 mark questions because I know there is limited space and if I use this technique, I could possibly cross out an irrelevant point and perhaps put it with a more relevant point...

In the 15 mark questions, I did it for my geography trials, but not my history trials, since the history markers wanted me to demonstrate that you can write in sentences and paragraphs.
