I'm a science of guy at heart, but a science law combination has always intrested me. So, i know ANU is excelent for law but i have heard literaly nothing on how good their advanced science or science courses are.

Since the "why ANU?" sticky sucks, would anyone care to shed some light on the situation?
pweeeeeease?:)

science is huge - Which area of science were you looking at?

As far as i'm aware, the emphasis is places on research and post graduate science study @ ANU. However the undegraduate is still really good. I know many people studying science (many of the B0S users are studying science). as per above: which area you looking at?

I guess what im loking for are reasons to go to ANU for phys/nanotechnology/chem above somwhere like Usyd or UNSW? Is ANU known particularly for sciences? or does it "specialise" in other areas?

As Davo mentioned, if you want to pursue postgraduate studies or research then ANU is well worth a look. I'm personally not aware of any reasons that the undergraduate is alot better than anywhere else. The phb program is touted as being highly regarded and prestigious, although I think there's a degree of self glorification involved on ANU's part.

PhB is what you make of it - if you choose your Advanced Studies Courses wisely then you can get a great head start on your future path in research.

As far as physical sciences go, ANU is definitely at the top end of Australian universities, but I'm sure places like UoM, Monash, USyd, UNSW are at a similar level, and the top university would depend very much on which particular subject area. As the other posters have said, ANU's strength is its research, so if you're actually interested in the research side of things then you could do something like PhB. Otherwise, you probably wouldn't get anything more out of a degree at ANU than any other Group of Eight uni.

Great to see someone interested in the smae combo that i am doing. As far as ANU science goes, it is on par with the likes of the other GO8 universities. It is the postgraduate research where ANU really stands at the summit. If you are considering doing honours then perhaps ANU is well worth the consideration.
