16Gb of ram is better, on macOS you can probably get away with 8gb but on windows you definitely want 16gb these days

also how is RAM storage affected by the brand? Like why is 8gb on mac ‘ok’ but on Windows ‘bad’?
macOS is more efficient with RAM usage

M2 macs are crazy good, but if you want to maximise its performance you need more than 8GB of RAM. Saying that - If you only plan to use your mac for document editing and web browsing/video streaming 8 GB is enough. If you plan to do anything more than that (video editing...) then you might want to look into a mac with more RAM.
