the chance of graduating in actuarial at macq is more than 33%, it's closer to 50%.

i know Macq uni is better in specialised actuarial teaching. But usually those overseas companies prefer ppl from some uni which are wellknown. in the world university ranking, UNSW is ranked far ahead of Umacq.

Actuarial is a course which u can succeed if you r good at maths and work quite hard. It doesn't necessarily depend on how good ur uni teaching is.

As someone mentioned be4, the insurance and investment market in australia doesn't seem 2 be good for actuarial ppl to develope and earn a lot. i saw somewhere on the newspaper saying that aus actuary's wages are only as much as a business manager who is MBA.

Not just quite hard....you have to work the shits outta yourself to secure yourself in the top ranks of the corporate ladder...or else when you graduate...you'll end up a teller at a bank doing things that an apprentice could've done...

My theory...do marketing...

GO UTADA!!

it z rite. Pure actuarial major is too narrow for ppl to end up having an actuarial job. Usually actuarial ppl would do double degree or double majors and it z helpful to find a better job.

can i ask a question here? Is that easy to get the coop scholarship without lot of extra curricular achivement ? (i was planning to do some actuarial work experience next year and dunt really care abt how much can i earn. does anyone know in what ways i can do so?

Firstly, aren't you in actuarial already?? anyway...i don't think coop is easy, that's the final point...they really select the cream of the crop and the best of the cream...lots of activities, very high marks...everything....

as for job experience...i would suggest you have normal job expereince first, like at a shop or soemthing...then once you've worked for like a yr...start going for jobs which are more commerce related...there's not much "actuarial part time" jobs out there...focus more on just "commerce" related...
