Critic = Critics the work, gives personal opinion etc, can make or break an exhibition, determines to a given set of principals if it has value or not.

Historian = Determines a work's context, and researches etc, basically like a normal historian except focus is on art

They can be utlised together because the context of an artwork can depend on the criticisms given to an artwork etc

Frida Kahlo is a good example.
