Asking about a AC/DC motor or gerator (1 Viewer)

Hey, i have to build a motor and generator too for my assessment and it's a month away, so i wanted to open up for suggestion, what is the best motor or generator that can be built easily and is able to work in any condition?

here is the equipment list for a simple dc motor but im not sure if this is the correct one, because my teacher confused me by saying that there are 2 simple dc motors:

Simple Motor (1)
Equipment:
2 Small strong magnets
1 Disposable cup
About 40cm of thin copper wire
A D cell battery
A D cell battery holder that has the two wires already attached
2 metallic paper clips
some white out liquid ( must be the pen version, not the tape otherwise it wont work)

method: is long but simple to create

full cost of equipment: around $30

or Simply Motor (2)
Double A battery
40 cm metallic wire
1 small magnet

method: is short but hard to create

full cost: around $5

Hey i have a 1cm copper wire... Is it too thick??? or is it about right because i've only seen thinner ones until this one which i got it from my dad

It would carry the current across fine but I think a wire that is 1cm thick would be hard to spin.
