" Haggard and Jones Pty Ltd " produces cooking utensils and a variety of can openers for the global market. Selling to Europe, the USA and to the Pacific Region. They operate manufacturing plants in both Australia and China.

In Chian " Haggard and Jones Pty Ltd ", use the classical sciectfic theory in relation to the management of their plant.
In Australia, bacuase of different labour force expectations and a different business environment, they use the "behavioural approach" to management.

OUTLINE BOTH THEORIES AND DISCUSS WHY "HAGGARD AND JONES PTY LTD" USE SPECIFIC THEORIES FOR EACH COUNTRY.

PLEASE HELP!

Well, Classical Theory would be used in the China factory because it characterizes mass-production and a more task-based style where labour is more divided so seemingly this style has higher productivity.
That's all I could think really.. :S

Well classical-scientific is more directive and coercive, and is based on the belief that there's one best way to do the job. In China, a lot of the production is mass-produced and hence efficiency is needed over creativity and consultation. Also, (and this isn't racist - cause I'm also Chinese myself), but most culturally the Chinese tend to just knuckle down and do what they're told, hence the approach would work well.

In contrast the behavioural theory is based on collaboration and consultation, with the belief that there's more than one way to do the job and promotes employee empowerment. In Australia, most employees demand power and rights, especially due to the strength of the unions in contrast with other nations, hence a behavioural approach would work better.
