I know I know I have no business with this forum but I received some pretty interesting info from reliable sources that the ATAR advantages NSW people going interstate. Thinking about it, it makes sense. Why?

- NSW is the only state to take on ATAR this year (not sure if they made it clear anywhere, didn't read all the UAC preamble, but if you didn't know, well I didn't know either till now and now you know)
- Which means, since the corresponding ATAR for the overwhelming majority of people is higher than their corresponding UAIs...
- That they apply to interstate unis with higher entrance ranks (forget the names, just concentrate on the numbers)

And you can work out the rest :) Enjoy 09ers.

I disagree, maybe for this year yes, next year no.

Why?

Because NSW is a smarter state and with other states getting high ranks, it will be easier for them to get into nsw unis.

As for the numbers, if the number is higher the course cut off will be adjusted accordingly.

In short the answer is: I disagree

Yes sorry I forgot to mention it was for this year only. Otherwise, I completely agree with you.

It's also possible that UAIs given to students in previous years have been slightly too low when compared with their interstate counterparts, disadvantaging NSW students, and the ATAR is an attempt to recalibrate NSW with the rest of Australia to level the playing field again.

Who knows? :)
