I emailed my teachers and have got my half yearly results and rankings .. The percentages are averages from both term 4 and the half yearlies. The rankings are a result of both these exams.

School rank is 130 ~ 135

Maths general - 81% ( rank 32/150)
Senior Science - 95% ( rank 1/60 )
Pdhpe - 88% ( 18/ 130 )
Business Studies- 85% ( rank 7/112)
Community and Family Studies - 97% ( rank 1/60)
English standard - 84% ( rank ~15/150)

I'm thinking of dropping General maths. My teacher is awful/ lazy and as a result I struggle and don't enjoy it. I study for it, but am yet to get over 82% in an exam for it :( With only 2 more assessments ( trial and hsc) I think it would be pointless keeping it. Any help?! I'm starting to stress

There's nothing worse than studying for a subject you don't enjoy. Drop it.

I dont like any of my subjects. wat shud i do??
This sounds similar to me, except I'm doing 'okay' in them .. The subjects at school don't pertain to my career prospects/interests .. I wish some how the schooling system could change to cater for this ( although I know it's virtually impossible to change the education system so drastically) lol

Low scaling subjects combined with semi-decent ranks, i'd say mid 80s. That's extremely rough though. What are you aiming for?

I'd like atleast 94-95, although I am aware of how poorly my subjects scale.. Maintaining first in my current subjects and achieving top 5-10 as a minimum in my others, do you think I can achieve that?

If you're going to drop something, I'd say maths general for you.

If you want an ATAR of 94, you're going to have to boss your subjects. They are all below average scalers.

I used to enjoy it, but somewhere along the line I lost my passion for it.. I blame my useless teacher for the lack of teaching he actually does ... We are not permitted to speak in class, and if you ask him a question he says didnt you do your hw etc etc .. It's utter rubbish trying to deal with such a man -.-

If you're in a learning environment that makes you not want to learn the subject or basically hate it, drop it. Why put stress upon yourself on a subject that's probably not even going to count? Only your best 10 units count towards your ATAR, focus on those 10 units that let you achieve your best. But if you do want that back up, keep it. However, from what you're saying, you should definitely drop it if you don't like it.

have not read any of the thread except OP

drop general. if it's dragging your performance down in your other subjects then drop it.

not to mention that you have an average rank in a poorly scaled subject so there's not much point doing it anyway unless you can get 100% in the trial.

oh yeah also if you hate it then drop it, duh.
