I scored 100Th ( overall score of 223) in umat and I am now worried about my Atar! Is 95+ Atar Still possible. What if I smash my HSC exam.

I don't think 95 is possible , those ranks are far too low .

Thank you so much for the reply bro, but I am very worried man, what should I do if I don't get the Atar, at the same time it is very sad because I worked hard for my umat score and then my umat would be a waste if I don't get the Atar. Is it still possible if I to well in HSC exams, I mean like I get above 90 in HSC exams in each subject. Those ranks are more mid to high 80s, into the low 90's if you ace the externals, but not 95. There are heaps of ways to get into medicine if you don't get 95 though, like doing a science degree and transferring in. Ask your careers advisor.

You won't get 95. If you were to get 100% in your externals your cohort must then perform well enough that in relation to you ranks you internals are 90% which is just not possible with your school rank and class rank.

But remember, the HSC isn't the end by any means, all this means is that you will have to spend another year to get to where you want to go. You won't be any more disadvantaged as people who take a gap year which is fairly common.

Try as hard as you can now to get the highest ATAR you can as it may become useful in whatever path you choose to reach your goal. This may be taking a less course then transferring etc.

Don't give up, life has barely begun for you. Treat this as a mistake, something to learn from. This first hand experience of failure from inadequate effort should be used as motivation to better yourself.

Thanks Everyone, but I would be very happy if someone could please explain what would be other the possibles that I can get into medicine like for most uni's. besides medical science, what is all the other courses that you can do for a year and then transfer into medicine. that's a shame with such a brilliant umat! but yeah, doesn't look like you're going to get the atar- although newcastle is known to be a little more flexible :S so keep trying!
