bad marks and ranks

these are my ranks . passed ipt religion and english. just failed chem physics and bombed out math.
9/19 physics
40/130 english
15/20 math advance
17/19 chemistry (but i know i can beat more the half the class coz i did in trials)
7/11 ipt
70/90 religion

thanks guys im worried . i need 85ish

school rank was like 219 last year , but i think top 200 this year looks good.

My estimate is wild, I don't have much experience with schools outside the top 10 and subjects outside the Asian 5, but I'd guess you're looking @ lower than 85 atm. Can't say how much lower though...

My mate got 77 (school rank 280-290) and he was ranked in the top 40% of all his subjects. Thats why I think that 80 is a real stretch for you. However, the externals are worth 50% of your marks, so anything can happen

I don't think so. You're probably around low 70s now.

can i just say, its very difficult for people to give you a remotely accurate estimation of your atar
they assume that, by going by your ranks, your external mark wont deviate far from your internal marks thus far (which is fair to assume imo but definitely inaccurate)

85 is still definitely possible for you, despite your ranks

and btw, although strictly speaking your externals are worth 50% .. they are actually worth a lot more

the higher your external is, the higher your internal will be

its as simple as that.

IN SHORT:
85 is definitely within range

(p.s. to other guy whos friend was in the top 40% and got a 77, he mustve bombed out in the externals to get that mark)

Doing better in the externals wont always bring your internal mark up as it depends on the cohort. Try an ATAR calculator to see what those marks get you - they are really accurate with this sort of thing.

the internal marks i have right now get me like 55 atar -.-
all my internal marks are between 55-65
