So I finished trials last term and all rankings have all been correlated.
The marks given are all raw. I still have an August assessment block to go, with the weightings between 10-30%

Advanced English-Trial Mark 96/105 Trial Rank 2/190 Overall Rank 4/190
Extension One English-Trial Mark 49/50 Trial Rank 1/33 Overall Rank 1/33
Extension Two English-Current Rank 1/6 with 100%
Biology- Trial Mark 88/100 Trial Rank 1/100 Overall Rank 2/100 (By one mark!)
Chemistry- Trial Mark 80/100 Trial Rank 1/59 Overall Rank 1/59
Mathematics- Trial Mark 94/120 :)/) Trial Rank 2/118 Overall Rank 5/118
SOR II- Trial Mark 97/100 Trial Rank 1/79 Overall Rank 2/79

School is in early 200s. I am aiming to gain a University of Sydney merit scholarship...will my ATAR make this achievable?
Plus I believe I have enough extracurriculars for my personal statement, more worried about ATAR

Have your teachers indicated whether they marked your trials hard or normal, and which trials did you do?

In maths maybe, but advanced 96/105 and 2nd. Also have a look at SOR, chem, EE1 and EE2

Yes we were told that they were all marked harshly, especially chemistry and bio because the subject coordinator is the Supervisor of Marking for Newcastle bio. The majority of students failed the trials. The English papers were last year's independent, science was an amalgamation of papers (some were from the A levels because one teacher is British), maths was made of 1990s papers. SOR was made up, one class had a high mark of 77%, with the other two classes with a high mark of roughly 80.

Last year 10 people got band sixes in mathematics.
The highest WAS 99 but that was a 4U person that did it in case they dropped out of it. All nine are not.

Marked harsh - geez, those trial marks are heaps good. Considering your ranks and trial marks I'd say 99+. If you were to get those trial marks in the final HSC exams, your final marks for each subject would roughly align to:

Advanced - 95
Maths - 90
SORII - 98-99 (likely state rank)
EE1 - 49/50 (likely state rank)
EE2 - 50/50 (state rank)
Chemistry - 93
Biology - 93

Congratz on the great marks

ahah thank you!
Yeah my year really failed...more people got 11/120 than above 90 in mathematics and in extension one english the average was 26...
Thanks for reassuring me about my marks!

97+

Depends how well you go in the HSC to determine your ATAR because it's up to you now.

School? Can't really tell if those ranks are deserving of a 99+ since I don't know what school you go to.
You could be really smart in a not-so-smart school, but below average in a top selective school. :)

Well I did get into Merewether... did not go because my parents think it is a crock. School is 220, last year we got three 99s. The problem with my school is that it is so polarised, and the cohort is 350. At least twenty of those do lifeskills

If he got those trial marks on the HSC, he probably would get 99+.

So with those bio marks you said, if i was to get a raw mark of say 85/100 for my ancient hsc exam, what band do you think I would get?
Cheers mate.

Probably 90 plus, but that is only a best guess. For subjects like modern, legal, and Ancient you usually need mid-low 80's for a band 6. However, raw marks greatly vary from year to year.

ancient history
TM- 88
TWM- 92
HSC mark- 95
rank- 168/12085
that was last year's ancient. So 85 is probably aligned to a low band six.
